I’m Mary-Elizabeth Schauf
Digital Communications and Cultural Preservation Specialist.
ABOUT ME
I'm Mary-Elizabeth Schauf, a communications professional with a passion for content development, digital media management, and cultural preservation. With a Bachelor of Arts in History and Philosophy from Columbia University, I have honed my research skills and a deep understanding of cultural contexts, which I apply to create engaging and impactful narratives.
My experience spans from managing digital content at NOVA Internal Medicine and Pediatrics to working in Antarctica, supporting scientific missions under the Antarctic Treaty. I've worked in rare book archives, managed historical radio content, and led sustainability initiatives. Each role has strengthened my ability to communicate effectively across diverse audiences.
I’m now excited to apply these skills to the world of cultural heritage, particularly with organizations like the American Research Center in Egypt (ARCE), whose mission to safeguard Egyptian history and foster global collaboration inspires me deeply.
My Approach
Storytelling
Every project has a story. By focusing on ARCE's initiatives—like conserving the Tomb of Amenhotep II and preserving the Temple of Isis—I aim to craft narratives that resonate deeply. The rich murals of Amenhotep II’s tomb reflect Egypt’s ancient artistry, while the Temple of Isis serves as a symbol of devotion. Through storytelling, I aim to enhance public engagement and foster a deeper appreciation for Egypt's cultural heritage.
Community Engagement
Successful communication isn’t just about sharing information; it’s about creating meaningful connections. My goal is to develop strategies that encourage local communities to engage with ARCE’s work, from social media campaigns to educational resources, empowering audiences to actively participate in preservation efforts.
Multimedia and Inclusivity
In a diverse digital landscape, a multi-format, inclusive approach is essential. By using videos, infographics, and multilingual content across platforms, I ensure ARCE’s message reaches global audiences and resonates with people from different cultures and backgrounds.
